SALIS is pleased to announce SALIS Fellowship for attending SALIS conferences/seminars and workshops. It is proposed to announce three fellowships namely

1.      Dr. S. R. RANGANATHAN STUDENTS FELLOWSHIP AWARD

2.      Dr. R. SRINIVASAN MEMORIAL RESEARCH SCHOLARS FELLOWSHIP AWARD.

3.      Dr. A. ESSAKI MEMORIAL LIS PROFESSIONALS FELLOWSHIP AWARD

G U I D E L I N E S TO THE APPLICANTS

1. The applicants of Professional category should hold a Degree/Certificate in Library Science. The Students and Research Scholars currently undergoing any Degree/Certificate courses/M.Phil and Ph.D in Library Science course may also apply for the fellowship.
2. Total income in any form should not exceed Rs.10000/- per month for the LIS Professionals/Research Scholars. The age should not exceed 45 years as on 20.07.2013
3. SALARY CRITERIA IS NOT APPLICABLE FOR THE STUDENTS/CANDIDATES WHO ARE CURRENTLY PURSUING B.L.I.Sc/M.L.I.Sc course.
4. Research Scholars who are getting Research fellowship which exceeds more than Rs.10000/- per month are not eligible to apply. Part-time Research Scholars are not allowed to apply in the Dr. R. SRINIVASAN MEMORIAL RESEARCH SCHOLARS FELLOWSHIP AWARD category but they are allowed to apply in the Dr. A. ESSAKI MEMORIAL LIS PROFESSIONALS FELLOWSHIP AWARD category.
5. The fellowship will award LIS professionals as per details given below;

6. The fellowship covers only the REGISTRATION FEE. No travel allowance will be given at any circumstance. However, the candidates will get accommodation on sharing basis.
7. The candidates who are selected for the Fellowship will be communicated in advance and they have to confirm their participation well in advance through email only. If fail to inform on time, the applications will not be considered for selection.
8. The applications should be properly endorsed by HOD in case of Students and Research Scholars and in case of Library Science Professionals from their HOD. Incomplete applications, without proper endorsement will not be considered.
9. The Fellowship is applicable only for the Conferences/Seminars/Workshops and any other programmes organized by the SALIS.If, no candidate applied for any of the category, the Fellowship will be given to the candidates who belong to any of the category on merit.
10. SALIS has rights to select or not to select candidates for the Fellowship. SALIS decision is FINAL in this regard.
11. No Personal communication will be entertained during the selection process.
12. In order to avoid the postal delay, the candidates should apply by mail only. In case of postal kindly send it by Speed Post/Registered Post/Courier.As soon as the application form received,proper acknowledgment will sent to the candidates.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

In order to encourage the LIS Professionals to attend the Conferences, an effective
selection method shall be formulated to make it permanent for such kind of activities
initiated by SALIS. The following are the selection procedures.
1. Proper announcement will be made by the President/General Secretary in the due course.
2. The announcement will be in the SALIS forum and also by post if required.
• A separate committee shall be formed to select the candidates. The committee may consist of President, Secretary, Founder President, Treasurer, Chairman, and Secretary of the Local Chapter and two representations from the Sponsors on rotation basis. The committee is accountable for selection process.
• The candidates shall be selected based on the merits, following rules and regulations prescribed for the purposes. No influence, recommendation or any other forms should be entertained.
• The committee shall update the list of candidates applied for the fellowship on weekly basis in the group mail.
• The list of candidates selected for the fellowship shall be posted in the group mail and also informed the methodology they used to select the candidates, other pertaining details well in advance.
• No citation or certificate will be provided to the selected candidates. Only communication will be send to the selected candidates.
• The applicants need not be a SALIS member. Any individual with a prescribed qualification are eligible to apply.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF CONTRIBUTORS

• The contributors shall inform in writing how much they are willing to sponsor.
• The contributors need to send the amount in the form DD/Cash/ or Online payment in advance in order to carry out the selection process well in advance (for this conference on or efore 10th July 2013).
• They can also recommend two candidates when they sponsor Rs.5000/ and above. It is also important that they should follow the guidelines specifically prescribed for the fellowship.
• The amount sponsored will not be given back at any circumstances
