Dr. Nafeesa
Dr.
Nafeesa Fathima Moinuddin is a Senior Professor in English at Justice Basheer
Ahmed Sayeed College for Women (Autonomous), Chennai – 600 018. She joined the institution in 1991 after
serving as Lecturer in English at the Ethiraj College for Women from 1988 to
1991. She has a brilliant academic
record having topped the B.A. Branch XII English Examination of the University
of Madras in 1976, for which she was awarded the Kuppuswami Naidu Memorial Gold
Medal and the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund Award.
She
is keenly interested in New Literatures in English and worked on Canadian
Literature for her M.Phil. dissertation.
Her doctoral research focused on Native American Literature. She was awarded the prestigious Fulbright
Fellowship for her Pre-doctoral Research in 2002-03 which she spent at the
University of Arizona, Tucson. She has
several publications to her credit. She
teaches both the UG and PG classes and has collaborated in the preparation of
textbooks for the Foundation Course in English which have been published by
Macmillan. She is the
teacher-coordinator in charge of publishing the monthly college online campus
newsletter ‘Live Wire’. She is also in
charge of the library and debating activities of the college including ‘J
Theatre’, the College theatre
group. A member of the Internal Quality
Assurance Cell from 2005 when it was formed, she assumed charge as the IQAC
Coordinator of the college in 2009.
Mrs.Mehar Banu
Mrs.
Mehar Banu who has 36 years of teaching experience in JBAS College for Women is
currently the head of the Department of English. She is also the Dean of Arts and Co-ordinator
of the Honours club. The University of
Madras has appointed her as a panel member of its inspection commission. She is also a member of Board of Studies and
academic auditor for several city colleges.
She has collaborated in the preparation of General English textbooks that have been published by Macmillan. Has presented paper in National and
International seminar on Translation Studies.
She was awarded the “Best Teacher Award” by the National Foundation for
Entrepreneurship Development” in the year 2011.
Dr. S.
SWAMINATHAN
He got his graduation B.Sc and M.L.I.Sc. from Bishop Heber
College, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. He also obtained MCA and
M.Phil. in Computer Science from Madurai Kamaraj University. He passed UGC-NET
in the year 1994. He has 19 years experience in the field of LIS. Currently he
is working as Librarian and placement officer in Sri Ramakrishna Mission
Vidyalaya College of Education. He had his initial professional training from
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, Regional Engineering College,
Tiruchirappalli and also a Software giant IBM, Bangalore. He has also course
coordinator and faculty for Diploma in Library and Information Science offered
by the SRKV College of Education under the UGC Autonomy Scheme. He also
obtained a UGC Grant for his Research project. He co- authored two books and
published 30 papers in National and International Conferences. He has the
credit of 15 papers in National and International Journals.
Dr.V.Sakthi Regha
Dr.V.Sakthi Regha is having around 19 years of
experience as librarian. Currently she is working as librarian at Madras School
of Social Work (MSSW), Chennai. She has presented number of papers in National
and International conferences. She is having few publications for her credit
like, journal articles, book chapters and a book titled “Academic Excellence
through Knowledge Management” published by the University of Madras in the year
2007. She served as Secretary and Vice-president of SALIS Chennai Chapter.
During her tenure in SALIS, She organized many lectures, training programmes
and workshops including the UNESCO supported workshop. She also organized few
UGC sponsored workshops and completed a UGC-Sponsored minor research project on
“Virtual Library for Social Science and Management” in 2009 at MSSW. She has
been invited as a resource person for Workshops, Seminars and UGC-Refresher
courses.
Dr.P.Panneerselvam,
Dr.P.Panneerselvam,
present Chairman of SALIS Chennai chapter. Currntly he is working as Librarian
at B. S. Abdur Rahman University, Chennai. He has completed PhD in Library
& Information Science at University of Madras. He has over 15 years work
experience, published seven journal articles and presented over 25 papers in
National and International Conferences.
He has been awared ‘Best Young Librarian’ for the year 2007, presented
during a National Conference at Anna University, Chennai. He has organized
seminars, workshops, conference, International conference (first International
conference by SALIS) on emerging topics of LIS during various periods. He is a
member of various professional bodies and member of organizing committee in
many conferences/seminars. He has also served as secretary for SALIS Chennai
chapter.
Mrs.M. JANNATH NAJEEMUNNISA BEEGUM
Mrs. M. Jannath Najeemunnisa
Beegum, got her graduation B.Sc. Chemistry in J.B.A.S. College for Women and an
alumni of this College. After that she
has completed B.Ed. (Physical Science), P.G.D.A.P. (Post Graduate Diploma in
Application Programming) and R.B.V. (Rashtrabasha Visharadh Udhradh). She has
stepped in to her career as ‘Computer Instructress in ‘Murthuzaviya Hr. Sec.
School’, Chennai and then joined as the
‘System Analyst’ in the Computer Science department of J.B.A.S. College and put
her services in all the departments including Controller of Examinations. She has continued her studies while working
and completed B.L.I.S., M.L.I.S., M.C.A., M.Phil. (LIS) and joined as the
‘Librarian’ in the very same institution without any break in service. She has also passed SET (State Eligibility
Test in Lectureship) in LIS and
continuing her Ph.D. (LIS) in Bharathiar University. She is serving more for the organizational
Development. She has also attended
workshops, Seminars, Symposium & conferences and also presented many papers
in National and International Level. Currently, she is an EC
member of SALIS in the National body and the Vice-Chairman of SALIS, Chennai
Chapter. She has organized so many
programmes jointly with JBAS and SALIS
for the past 2 (two) to 3 (three) years.
1) Organized the Preparatory
programmes for SET / NET holders on 3 (three) Sundays; 2) Organized the Library Week Celebrations by
conducting Book Exhibition, various inter-collegiate competitions like debate,
essay writing competitions, Quiz & oratorical, Seminars, Special Lectures,
video show, Librarians Day, etc.; 3) currently she is acting as an Organising
Secretary of this National Conference on Next Generation Library Services.
Mrs.Kamatchi. S
Presently Librarian and Information Officer in Anna Centenary Library, Kotturpuram, Chennai. She has 12 years of experience as a Librarian. Her areas of specialization are Research Methodology, Information Literacy, Content management. She has published ten articles in various national and international journals. She has presented more than 25 papers in various conference and seminars. She is an active member of SALIS and presently secretary of SALIS Chennai chapter.
Associate Editors
S.Manikandan
S.Manikandan, working as Librarian and Information Asst. in Anna Centenary Library, Chennai. He has the experience of 13 years in the field of LIS. He has presented more than 15 papers in the national Seminars and Conferences. He has organized three workshops. From 2005 to 2010, he acted as a NCC Officer in the rank of Lieutenant and underwent 3 months basic military training at NCC OTA, Nagpur.
G.G.Sivakumar
G.G.Sivakumar is presently
working as Librarian at Alpha college of Engineering, Chennai. He has Fifteen
years of Professional experience. He posses B.Sc.,M.L.I.S and M.Phil Degree. He
is one of the founder member of SALIS. He has attended several seminars,
workshops and conferences and he is an organizing committee member in many
SALIS programs. He has presented 6 papers in national conferences and 1 paper
in an International conference. His area
of interests is Library Management and Planning, building Institutional
Repositories and e-learning.
A. Joseph Anburaj
A. Joseph Anburaj, is currently
working as Librarian, KCG College of
Technology Chennai. Previously he has worked in K.L.N. College of Engineering,
Madurai. He has B. Sc and M.L.I.Sc., and
M.Phil. Curruntly he is pursuing Ph.D. He has organized many National Seminars.
He has Organized many seminar jointly
with SALIS. He attended many Conferences, Workshops and Seminars. He is one of the senior members of SALIS and
presently is Vice chairman of SALIS Chapter.
Mr. A. Janakiraman
Mr. A. Janakiraman holding the
position as a Manager –Library Services at M S Swaminathan Research
Foundation (Center for Sustainable
Agriculture and Rural Development) for the past 7 years. It is an
internationally recognized NGO. He has been writing research articles on open
access archives during national and international conferences. He had a wide
experience on managing the Library effectively, and keen area of research is
Open Access Archives, ICT, Web 2.0 Etc. and also he had vast experience on
Engineering, technology Library over a period of 10 Years. And his research
desire is to setup an OAA institutional repository in every institution.
Mr.J.Arumugam
Mr. J.Arumugam, M.Sc., M.B.A., is
working as Officer, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., Chennai. He holds M.Sc., in
Information Science from the University of Madras, awarded Dr.S.R.Ranganathan
Endowment Prize and Librarian P.Kalyanasundaram Endowment Prize for the first
rank in University and completed NET. He has published 9 journal articles and
29 conference papers in various National and International conferences
/seminars. He has visited Japan in 2008 as a University nominee and delivered
invited talks and organized National seminars. His areas of interest are OSS
and Research Methodology.
