Prof. Subbiah Arunachalam


Subbiah Arunachalam is now  a Distingued fellow in, Centre for Internet and Society, Bangalore (known for his campaigns in favour of Open Access for academic journals in the "developing" countries.  He has been called "India's and the Developing World's great advocate for open access". Prof. Subbiah Arunachalam (known to friends as Arun) started his career as a research chemist, but found his calling in information science. In the past four decades, he has been a student of chemistry, a laboratory researcher (at the Central Electrochemical Research Institute and the Indian Institute of Science), an editor of scientific journals (at the Publications and Information Directorate of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research and the Indian Academy of Sciences), the secretary of a scholarly academy of sciences (IASc), a teacher of information science (at the Indian National Scientific Documentation Centre), and a development researcher (at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras). While working with M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, he initiated the South-South Exchange Traveling Workshop to facilitate hands on cross-cultural learning for knowledge workers from Africa, Asia and Latin America engaged in ICT-enabled development.Arun is on the editorial boards of six international refereed journals including Journal of Information Science, Scientometrics, and Journal of Community Informatics; a member of the international advisory board of IICD, The Hague, a trustee of the Electronic Publishing Trust for Development, and a Trustee of the Voicing the Voiceless Foundation. Improving information access both for scientists and for the rural poor; scientometrics, ICT-enabled development and open access are among his current research interests.





Dr. Jesudoss Manalan 
   
Dr. Jesudoss Manalan completed M.A (Economics-Loyola College), MLISc (Mysore University), M.Phil.,Ph.D (Bharathidasan University) And presently as a College Librarian (Selection Grade) Bishop Heber College,   Tiruchirappalli. He is having 25 years of professional experience. He published 8 journal articles and attended  72 various conferences,seminars and workshops. He is serving as a research advisor of  Bharathidasan University. He is a member of ILA,IASLIC,SALIS. He has visited Germany, France, Ireland and Luxemburg.
 


  







 


Dr. Christina Birdie



Dr. Christina Birdie is the senior Librarian cum Archivist at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Bangalore, India. With more than three decades of her experience and service in this library she has mastered many skills and work ethics to cater to the astronomy community for their information seeking and related requirements.  She has been actively involved in converting the library totally automated and has taken care to blend the traditional services and contents within the technology driven library. Christina works closely with faculty and students to take care of their requirements in building the library collection and the services. She also manages all the branch libraries and libraries located in observatory sites, remotely from the main library at Bangalore.  As a mentor to the library school graduates she has designed the modules of the library training program which is unique and useful to the Library School graduates who are interns at the IIA library for two years vigorous training.As a one of the founder members of FORSA (Forum for Resource Sharing in Astronomy), Christina coordinates with other astronomy libraries in India for resource sharing and organizes library network activities among the astronomy librarians. She is also an active member of the negotiation committee of Electronic resources subscribed by the science &technology libraries consortium (NKRC- National Knowledge Resource Consortium) supported by Government of India.
She has set up the Institutional repository within her organization to upload the research publications of IIA and also takes care to maintain it with copyright compliance of the publishers and the authors.  IIA library helps the researchers to upload their pre/reprints in to the repository. Indian Institute of Astrophysics being one of the historical research institutes in the country with more than 200 years of heritage, Christina has established an archive of heritage contents with proper conservation and preservation mechanisms, which is attached to the library.  The metadata along with the full text of most of these historical papers are uploaded in IIA OA repository, which are used extensively by historians and research scholars working in History of Astronomy all over the world. She was invited to be a member of the advisory expert committee for setting up the Archives of IIT, Kanpur. Christina is nominated as one of the members of the working Group Libraries of the Division 5 of the IAU (International Astronomical Union) to coordinate in the design and implementation of standards and guidelines for astronomy libraries all over the world. Recently she has been invited to serve as a founding member of the Asia Pacific Library Advisory Board of IOP publishers for 2013-14.Christina is also a member of the standing committee of the Science & technology division of IFLA, representing the special Libraries Association (SLA) of Washington, USA.  Dr. Birdie has received many awards and recognition for her devoted involvement in various library services and leadership quality at both national and international level.  She has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals and participated in many international conferences. She is a member of national and international library associations.



  






Dr. K. Elavazhagan, 


Dr K Elavazhagan, is currently working as Librarian & Chief Knowledge Officer, Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli has more than 24 years of experience. He has served as Library IT Manage and Operations Manager in The British Deputy High Commission, British Council Division, Chennai for 20 years and later he was Heading the Goethe-Institute Library (German Cultural Centre), Chennai. He was Secretary for MALA (Madras Library Association). He has been nominated as Co-Chief Editor for SALIS Journal of Library and Information Science (An International Journal).He has attended Cambridge ESOL Administration training and Cambridge ESOL Computer based testing Training at Cambridge, UK.He also attended Advanced Cataloguing Training at Munich, Germany. He also participated in the Frankfurt Book Fair.He has received Best Contribution Award from British Council, India.










Mrs.C. Hema                                     


Mrs. C. Hema, Librarian, Madura College, Madurai. She joined Madura college in 1999. She is a B.com graduate and did her M.A and M.Phil in Philosophy in RIASP  Madras University and worked there as UGC junior research fellow for a year. She stood university first in M.A and passed UGC-NET exam twice in Philosophy (1991 Dec. Lecturership only and 1992. Dec. both fellowship and lecturership). Completed BLIS course from Madras University and MLIS from Annamalai University. She passed UGC-NET exam in Library and Information Science in 1998.  She did her PGDLAN course from Central University, Hyderabad. She did her M.Phil in Library science from Alagappa University Karaikkudi and is currently registered for part-time Ph.D programme in Madras University. She has presented a number of articles in journals and has done many paper presentations in seminars.  She has acted as resource person for invited lectures and seminars in various colleges.She is an external committee member in the Women’s Study Centre in the college and is the convener of Readers’ Forum, Madura College, which conducts regular book review meetings regularly apart from other programmes.Her area of interest is library services for the differently abled ,ICT applications in Libraries and Philosophy.










Mrs.B.Jyoth
 
She is also a Honors graduate in Systems Management from NIIT. She Joined Tata Consultancy Services’s Library & Information Centre in 1993 as Officer & rose to the current position of Head of Information Resource Centre for Chennai Region which she has been holding for the past 3 years. Prior to joining TCS, worked as an Intern at the Knowledge Resource Division of Structural Engineering Research Centre, CSIR. Jyothi is a member of Special Libraries Association. Library Administration, Services Marketing & Management is her forte. Has been successful in implementing many customer friendly initiatives at TCS- Chennai.












Dr. R. Sevukan

Reader of DLIS, Pondichery University , 13 years of experience in the field of LIS . He is specialized in the area of Library Automation, Networking, Digitisation, Research Methods, Scientometrics. He has organized many workshop , seminars and conferences, he is producing many research scholars and given many invited lectures.He is also associated with many professional associations and published many papers.














Mr. B. Narayan


Mr. Narayan is a Senior Product Line Manager at Infosys, Chennai.  In a career spanning over 21 years, he has seen the evolution of the Communications Industry from its early voice based incarnation to the data heavy, social networking based avatar today.  He is responsible for New Product Incubation in the Products, Platforms and Solutions Unit at Infosys.  Some of the products he has contributed to include Flypp - a Digital Experience Zone and  ReTEM - Real-time Expertize Manager.





  












Mr. Virupakshan Krishnamoorthi

Virupakshan Krishnamoorthi, Products, Platforms and Solutions, Joined Infosys in 1997 after graduating from MIT-Chennai and was in various projects of Engineering Services Group and also worked from Austin-USA, Seattle-USA, Chicago-USA, Brussles-Belgium and Changsha-China. He left Infosys in 2006, had short stints in Cognizant and MindTree from 2006-2007,experimented his entrepreneurial skills  for 3.5 years from 2007 to 2010.He rejoined Infosys in 2010 in Engineering Academy & moved to PPS group.He is Passionate about changing the Education System, Innovation, Product Development Entrepreneurship .He is an active Member of The Physics Society (Chennai), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Knowledge Community Chennai (KCC) and Madras Management Association (MMA)
